TOP 10: Forbes Philippines' 50 Richest 2013

1. Henry Sy and Family, $12 Billion
Running in sixth year of being the richest Pinoy is the SM Investor magnate Henry Sy. Sy began in retailing but has now grown into a conglomerate into mall operations, real estate, banking and tourism. 

2. Lucio Tan and Family, $7.5 Billion
Lucio Tan owns LT Group including Asia Brewery, maker of the popular "Beer na Beer" and has a stake in Philip Moris Fortune Tobacco, which holds 80 percent of the country's cigarette market. He recently sold 49 percent of his stake in Philippine Airlines to San Miguel. Tan also owns the Eton Properties in Philippines and in Hongkong.

3. Andrew Tan, $4.6 Billion
With interests in food and beverage, real estate, gaming, Andrew Tan climbs up three spots through an 18 percent jump in net profits. Andrew manages the Alliance Global Group Inc. which is compose of real estate giant Megaworld Corp, Emperador Distillers Inc., and McDonald's franchisee Golden Arches Development Corp.

4. Enrique Razon Jr., $4.5 Billion
A shipping and casino tycoon owns the fourth spot. Razon's International Container Services owns 28 ports in 19 countries. Razon's casino operator Bloomberry Resorts runs the newly opened Solaire Resorts and Casino.

5. John Gokongwei Jr., $3.4 Billion
Gokongwei owns JG Summit, one of the largest conglomerates in the country with interests in aviation, banking, retail and property. Among the group’s businesses are budget carrier Cebu Pacific, the Robinsons Retail Group and Go Hotels

6. Jaime Zobel de Ayala and Family, $3.1 Billion
Chairman emeritus Jaime Zobel de Ayala owns one of the oldest and largest conglomerates in the country, Ayala Corp. Strong revenue and profits in banking, real estate and water business made a 29 percent jump in net income. Ayala-owned Bank of the Philippine Islands announced the possibility to emerge with Lucio Tan’s Philippine National Bank. Group was recently appointed distributor for Volkswagen in the Philippines. 

7. Aboitiz Family, $3 Billion
Aboitiz family controls the Cebu-based conglomerate Aboitiz Equity Ventures, enters the top ten as fortune. Focusing on power, banking, food, land development, construction and shipbuilding, the company is planning to spend $1.4 billion for its power business. It recently agreed to partner with Ayala Land to develop properties in Cebu and bid for a new airport project. Announced plans in May to venture into water treatment and distribution.

8. David Consunji, $2.7 Billion
David Consunji is the founder of construction giant DMCI Construction giant diversified its investments to power generation, water, real estate and infrastructure. DMCI controls the country’s largest coal producer Semirara Mining.

9. George Ty and Family, $2.6 Billion
George Ty is the founder of Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co., a local banking giant which has also branched out into other business. Metrobank is the second largest lender in the Philippines. The company recently raised $350 million in January share sale to buy shares in Toyota Motor Philippines, in which it now has a majority stake of 51 percent.

10. Lucio and Susan Co, $1.9 Billion
The husband-and-wife duo of Lucio and Susan Co have grown their business from one supermarket into one of the country’s biggest retailers, Puregold.  Puregold Price Club is the second largest retailer, next to Henry Sy's SM Group. Its network of more than 150 hypermarkets, supermarkets and discount stores, 50 of which opened in 2012, mainly targets low and middle-income consumers and "sari-sari" store owners. They also have interests in gaming, hotels, wine distribution an property.

Restaurant mogul Tony's wealth boost as Jollibee's shares gained 40% profit. Jollibee Foods is the country's largest fast food with nearly a dozen different chains including Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich Pizza, Burger King; more than 2,000 stores in the Philippines and 541 overseas. 

12. Robert Coyiuto, Jr., $1.5 Billion
Bulk of Robert Coyiuto Jr's wealth comes from country's power transmission company, National Grid Corporation in which he has a 30% hold. He is also a luxury car distributor who opened country's first Bently showroom.

13. Emilio Yap, $1.35 Billion
Media tycoon Emilio Yap, chairman of newspaper Manila Bulletin, gets chunk of wealth from Philtrust Bank with more than two-thirds stake. He is the chairman emeritus of Philtrust Bank. he also has stakes in construction, hospitality and education.

16. Manuel Villar, $1 Billion
Manuel Villar joins billionaire ranks for the first time after doubling his stake in listed home builder Starmalls, formerly called Polar Property, following a merger with privately-held Althorp Holdings. Shares of his other property outfit Vista Land & Landscapes.

17. Andrew Gotianun, $1 Billion
Founder and Chairman of Filinvest Development gained over 20 percent making him a billionaire.

18. Beatrice Campos & family, $.9 Billion
Beatrice Campos' late husband Jose Campos co-founded drug-maker Unilab, which makes up biggest portion of family's fortune. Family also has controlling stake in Del Monte Pacific. Its net profits rose 17% to $32 million last year on higher revenues.

19. Vivian Que Azcona & family, $.84 Billion
Vivian Que Azcona and family gets fortune in a privately-held Mercury Drug with an estimated 60% market share. She is the president of the country's largest drugstore chain with over 700 stores, 7,000 employees. It was started by father Mariano Que who sold drugs from a pushcart in Manila before opening his first store in 1945.
