Gilas Pilipinas outcasts Korea, booking tickets for Spain


Beating the curse, Gilas Pilipinas finally enters the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship by defeating a closed knocked out game over harasser Korea with an ending score of 86-79 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Saturday night. With this win, the Philippines officially earned the second spot in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.


Jayson Castro and Marc Pingris played with gallant back to back defense, scored 17 and 16 respectively, to fill the absence of Marcus Douthit for Gilas Pilipinas.


Jimmy Alapag contributed 14 while Ranidel de Ocampo made his attempts to finish the game with 11 points to finally close the game.

Gilas Pilipinas will match with unbeaten Iran for a winner-take-all championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on August 11. 

On the other hand, Korea will face their final battle against Chinese Taipei for bronze aiming on the last spot in 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
