2013 FIBA Asia Championship Draw Results and Game Schedule

The biggest intercontinental basketball tournament in Asia will be happening August 1-11 at the Mall of Asia Arena having Gilas Pillinas and Saudi Arabia in the main game. Fifteen teams will battle for the three spots to 2014 FIBA (International Basketball Federation)  World Cup in Spain.

It is the third time in history that Philippines is hosting the 53rd FIBA-Asia biennial basketball event. The previous hosting was in 1973. Lebanon was the original hosting country for this year's FIBA event but since conflicts are still arising in the country, FIBA opted to give way to Philippines as the host. Lebanon was suspended by FIBA due to legal troubles plaguing the local league as well as political disputes involving basketball stakeholders in Lebanon.

The draw for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship held in Manila Hotel, Philippines last June 6 and was supervised by FIBA-Asia General Hagop Khajirian. There will be two venues for, MOA Arena as primary and Ninoy Aquino Stadium as the secondary.

FIBA ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 DRAW RESULTS

Preliminary Round: (August 1-3)

• Group A:  Jordan, Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, Philippines
• Group B: Japan, Qatar, Hong Kong
• Group C: China, South Korea, Iran, Malaysia
• Group D: Kazakhstan, India, Bahrain, Thailand

Top three of each group will advance to the Second Round.

Second Round: (August 5-7)

• Group E: A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3
• Group F: C1, C2, C3, D1, D2, D3

Teams will battle teams not played in the first round. Scores of the previous round will be carried over.  Top four of each group will advance to the quarter finals.

Quarter Finals: (August 9)

Semi Finals and Finals: (August 10-11)
